(The Post News) – During his attendance at the United Nations General Assembly, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sat down with the Axios Show to issue Russia a grave warning unless it ends its three-year invasion.
Fed up with the 8-year conflict, the Ukrainian president said on Thursday that unless they end the war, the Kremlin and Russian officials should “know their bomb shelters” in Moscow. He added, “They need it. If they will not stop the war, they will need it in any case.”.
Zelensky’s remarks come after his 23 September conversation with United States President Donald Trump in the sidelines of the New York-hosted assembly. He outlined plans to defeat Russia. Trump then publicly voiced confidence in Ukrainians’ ability to win the war and regain their land due to the European Union’s support.
In the interview, Zelensky reiterated what he told Trump in the meeting, which was that Ukraine needs weaponry assistance from the US such as “long distance weapons” to use against Russia. He maintains that they will not target civilians as Russia has done with them, as they are not “terrorist”.
While Russia’s wave of airstrikes has consistently hit residential areas, Ukraine’s attacks have consistently been targeted to hit oil infrastructure – one of Russia’s critical trade minerals.
Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council and Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev responded to the president’s interview on X. He reminded Ukraine that Russian weapons cannot be stopped by a “bomb shelter” and added that the US should also remember this.
