(The Post News)- While defeating the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3, the San Francisco 49ers suffered a serious setback. Despite improving to 3-0 on the season, they lost their best pass rusher, Nick Bosa, to an ACL tear, which will keep him out of action for the remainder of the season.
It will be very difficult for the 49ers to replace Bosa unless they make a significant trade. The hole may be filled by someone like Trey Hendrickson, but it doesn’t seem probable that they will be acquired.
Bosa to Have Surgery on Friday
The team gave an update on Bosa’s injury on Thursday. General manager John Lynch, as reported by NFL insider Ian Rapoport, said he will have surgery on Friday to repair his ACL. Bosa was enjoying a fantastic season and was essential to San Francisco’s hopes of winning a title; therefore, the squad is devastated by the loss.
Bosa recorded 17 total tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery in just three games. He didn’t appear to slow down. Regretfully, the 49ers are still beset by injuries; this season, they have already had to deal with the absence of tight end George Kittle and quarterback Brock Purdy. Bosa’s injury is only the most recent blow to a squad trying to contend for the Super Bowl again.
The 49ers made it to the Super Bowl a few seasons ago but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. Though they were once again considered strong candidates, injury has consistently derailed their plans.
In an attempt to remain unbeaten and get to 4-0, San Francisco will now get ready for a Week 4 home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
