He has been reported to have crashed against a brick wall throughout the game. However, the football team has not formally acknowledged the incident.
Vigar, who was born in Worthing, was put into an induced coma soon after the event. According to his relatives, physicians operated on him Tuesday in an effort to speed up his recuperation. He died Thursday morning as a result of the injuries, which were lethal despite their best efforts.
Before being signed by Arsenal recruiters at the age of 14, Vigar started his football career at his hometown team, Hove Rivervale FC. He made an immediate impression after joining the Hale End academy, scoring 17 goals in his first season. After receiving an award of funding from Arsenal in 2020, he became a full-time member for the 2020–21 campaign, practicing with players such as Brook Norton-Cuffy, Charles Sagoe Jr., Remy Mitchell, Omari Hutchinson, and Charlie Patino.
Vigar’s first year as a scholar was disrupted by a devastating leg injury, but he recovered the next season, scoring four goals in 18 U18 matches. At the conclusion of the 2021–22 season, Arsenal extended an offer to him on a formal contract. “Devastated” by the tragedy, Vigar’s family noted, “Billy passed away while doing what he truly loved, playing football.” He suffered severe brain damage last Saturday, and we are devastated by his demise.
In a statement, Eastbourne Borough expressed their shock and sorrow and offered sympathies to his family. In addition, the Football Association expressed sadness, stating, “We send our deepest sympathies to Billy’s friends, family, and to all at Chichester City FC amid this tremendously difficult moment.”
Chichester City postponed their forthcoming game against Lewes on Thursday morning prior to acknowledging his passing. A new date will be set for the encounter.
