(The Post News) – The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has confirmed a fatal crash on the N1 just before Winnie Mandela Drive.
It is reported that the truck overturned, spilling huge amounts of cooking oil onto the highway, resulting two other vehicles to crash. Two fatalities have been reported thus far.
JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla cautioned motorists that two lanes on the N1 north have been closed due to traffic congestion. “Motorists should expect severe delays and are strongly advised to exercise caution and paitience and that they should use alternative routes,” stated Fihla.
Fihla added that Emergency Management Services and law enforcement personnel are on the scene.
