(The Post News)- The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has cautioned South Africans for a dramatic weather over the weekend, with severe wind warnings and thunderstorms expected to sweep across several provinces.
According to SAWS latest forecast, Saturday, 04 October 2025 will bring disruptive winds along the east coast and interior. “Strong to gale force winds are likely to make travel hazardous along the coast and could lead to temporary road closures in exposed areas,” reads the statement.
SAWS Issues Yellow Level 4 Warning
SAWS issued a Yellow Level 4 Warning for damaging winds for the eastern coastal belt, specifically affecting areas near Durban and Port Shepstone. “Residents can expect major sand build-up along coastal routes, localised damage to infrastructure, and possible disruptions at small harbours and ports,” SAWS stated.

In addition, a 30% chance of isolated rainfall is forecast for eastern Free State, southern Mpumalanga, northern KwaZulu-Natal, and parts of Limpopo on Saturday.
SAWS has urged motorists and coastal residents to exercise caution and to stay updated on weather alerts throughout the weekend.
