(The Post News) – Summer Walker, an American R&B artist, has publicly apologized to her South African supporters about the abrupt ending of her Sunday, October 5, main appearance for the In The City festival in Pretoria.
In a social media post, Walker acknowledged the issue, stating that she was supposed to perform for a full hour but had to leave the stage after about thirty minutes because of uncontrollable circumstances. Despite her dismay, she informed her admirers that they were among the best audiences she had ever played for.
Walker claimed that organizational problems that affected the performance scheduling were caused by Steyn Entertainment, the event’s organizer, not paying the necessary payments to the Joint Operations Committee (JOC) in a follow-up Instagram post.
She stated that although her team had made it on schedule and was ready to go on stage as planned, the concert ended up being shortened due to venue regulations implemented by the authorities in the area.
Online, supporters, a majority of whom were eagerly looking forward to her first live performance in South Africa, vented their anger. Many on social media criticized the festival’s management, demanding refunds for what they saw as an unfinished task and accountability from promoters. Some expressed the hope that under possibly more favorable circumstances, Walker would perform again as a solo artist.
The singer, who is renowned for her distinctive vocals and deeply honest lyrics, gained notoriety when she released her 2019 debut album, Over It, which featured hits like “Come Thru” and “Playing Games.” Her position as a prominent voice in modern R&B was cemented when her second album, Still Over It, landed at the top spot on the Billboard 200.
Because of Walker’s openness and compassion in regard to her music and her character, her loyal following has remained devoted despite her earlier disruptions and shorter sets. Steyn Entertainment needs to respond to Independent Media Lifestyle’s request for a remark on the concert occurrence.
