(The Post News)– Following their 34-0 thumping of the Scarlets in Wales on Friday, the Stormers ascended to the forefront of the United Rugby Championship (URC) charts.
They made a strong impression and put on an impressive showing to start their three-game tour. Despite missing several scoring possibilities, they played excellent defense and took advantage of vital chances to put out the Welsh hosts.
Once more, the Stormers’ attackers provided an effective framework for the squad and dominated the offense, laying the foundation for winning. Ben-Jason Dixon and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu were both given yellow cards, but the opponent maintained possession of their match from the start and led 17-0 at halftime because of touchdowns from exceptional free forwards Evan Roos and Paul de Villiers.
To finish the onslaught, flyhalf Feinberg-Mngomezulu, lock Ruben van Heerden, and substitute scrumhalf Imad Khan added scores in the second half. Feinberg-Mngomezulu also made a significant contribution with a penalty, two goals, and a solid overall performance.
While defense coach Norman Laker will be particularly proud of the group’s clean record, their second of the campaign, head coach John Dobson will be pleased with the extra-point victory. With 95 scores and just 10 goals given up, the Stormers have already won three in a row. Despite fierce competition, they have only given up two tries and reached the try line twelve times.
Before their upcoming tour games against Zebre and Benetton in Italy, Dobson admitted that they could still do better despite the resounding result. Additionally, he will seek to deal with the team’s attitude and propensity for tough play.
