(The Post News)– The African National Congress (ANC) has extended its gratitude following recent by-elections held in various parts of the country. The party hailed the results as a sign of continued public confidence in its leadership and service delivery agenda.
With the lowest result being 47% in Langeberg, Cape Winelands, Secretary General Fikile Mbalula took to social media to thank voters for their support, describing the outcomes as a “strong demonstration of commitment to the party.”
Wards Secured by ANC
In Ward 4 (Bonnievale Happy Valley) in Langeberg, Cape Winelands, the ANC retained the ward with 47% of the vote. The DA received 28%, the Patriotic Alliance (PA) 21%, and the Langeberg Independent Party (LIP) 4%.
In the Eastern Cape under the Dr. AB Xuma Local Municipality, they retained 69.42% of the seat it won in 2021, with the party’s Vuyiswa Poswa being elected councillor. The EFF followed with 18%, while the UDM and ATM received 6% and 5%, respectively.
The party also retained its seat with 62.74%, with Raymond Nyathi elected as the new councillor. They have also committed to translating these electoral victories into tangible improvements in service delivery, infrastructure, and community development across all three wards.
Regaining Stability
Party spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu said this demonstrated that people continue to trust the party to lead them. “These outcomes reaffirm the party bond with the people and strengthen our resolve to work harder, rebuild confidence, and serve with integrity. The recent by-elections have shown that renewal is not a slogan but a living reality.
Bhengu further asserted that as their cadres re-establish contact with the public and serve with revitalized discipline and intent, the party is restoring stability, unity, and trust. She said they are still dedicated to providing quality service, being accountable, and exercising ethical leadership.
