(The Post News)– A four year old girl died and several others injured following a horrific head-on collision on Richmond Road near Trafford Road in Westmead on Wednesday, 15 October 2025.
It is alleged that the girl was travelling with her family when the incident happened. Reports indicate that the crash involved two vehicles. However, the emergency services resported to the incident very quickly.
Paramedics Confirms the Crash
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson stated that rescue teams and the eThekwini Fire Department worked tirelessly to free the trapped occupants.
“Just after 6pm on Wednesday evening, ALS paramedics responded to a horrific head-on crash on Richmond Road near Trafford Road in the Westmead area of Pinetown.Paramedics arrived on scene to find carnage as they found two badly damaged vehicles that collided head-on, leaving two people severely entrapped in their vehicle.
“Immediately the eThekwini Fire Department was dispatched to help. They used the Jaws of Life with some other hydraulic equipment to free the trapped individuals,” Jamieson said.
He added, “Once they were freed, the patients were carefully extricated and placed into awaiting ambulances.”
Jamieson reported that in one of the vehicles there was a family of four, including two girls, aged four and six. “Unfortunately the four-year-old little girl had sustained multiple injuries and she was declared deceased on the scene,” he said.
According to the paramedics, the remaining family members had sustained serious injuries.
