(The Post News)- SA demonstrated its supremacy in African hockey by qualifying for the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands with gold medals from both the men’s and women’s national teams at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
This historic double win demonstrated the country’s growing prominence in the world of hockey.
Starting the round-robin stage with three victories and a draw against Kenya, the women’s team put on a dominant display and finished first with ten points. Ghana, who also had excellent form, lost to South Africa but ended second after winning three games. SA’s superior talent and poise were highlighted by that loss, which turned out to be significant.
