From archival Chanel pieces to viral buzz and celebrity guests, Tyla’s “Chanel” launch proves she’s pop’s new luxury icon.
(The Post News)- Tyla’s long-awaited single “Chanel,” which has gorgeous visuals that perfectly complement its feel-good attitude, finally drops, and her fans are celebrating a significant milestone.
Fans were treated to an enthralling music video that combines style and attitude when the Grammy-winning 23-year-old artist finally released the song on all streaming platforms after months of anticipation. Every vintage Chanel item she dons makes a statement, transforming every photo into an exhibition of style and self-assurance.
On Thursday, October 23, Tyla threw a “Put Her in Chanel” brunch in Los Angeles to celebrate the release. The exclusive event brought together journalists, influencers, and a number of the celebs that appear in the video, according to Billboard. As stylish mementos of the day, guests departed with customized Chanel compact mirrors.
“My purpose is to spoil the girls.” During her toast, Tyla declared, “Today, I’m dressing you all in Chanel.” This song is unique because it’s about enjoying who we are, accepting ourselves as we are, and acknowledging our value. It’s for the girls who actually contribute anything.
Tyla’s outfit in the “Chanel” video, which was styled by Ronnie Hart, features unique vintage items. The recognizable white Chanel hula hoop purse from Karl Lagerfeld’s 2013 spring/summer collection is particularly noteworthy. A 1991 quilted black bomber jacket and accessories that were once owned by supermodels Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista are also shown in the video.
The difficulty of finding such rare things was disclosed by Hart in an interview with Vogue. “She wears belts that cost around $20,000 each, and I had to sign a massive waiver in case something broke, but fortunately nothing did,” he continued.
Prior to its release, “Chanel” caused a commotion on the internet when rapper Yung Miami claimed that Tyla had stolen the idea for the song. The City Girls rapper, who was referring to her own unreleased song “Take Me to Chanel,” said on X that Tyla “ran off” with an idea she had offered. Fans pointed out that she hadn’t released her own version since early 2024, while she posted, “Take me to Chanel > put me in Chanel,” a direct jab at Tyla.
“Chanel,” in spite of the criticism, has already gained popularity among fans. When Tyla initially performed it at the Global Citizen Festival, the audience joined in on the catchy chorus. On social media, she also hinted at the song by sharing videos of Alton Mason and Anok Yai, two models, dancing to it.
Excitement was increased when Tyla finally got one of her dream collaborations: PartyNextDoor, a Canadian R&B musician, contributed to the song. His silky voice repeated the sentence, “Put her in Chanel.” He now formally features on the single’s credits for “additional vocals,” after Tyla expressed her desire to collaborate with him earlier this year to Capital Xtra.
