(The Post News)- Eastern Cape beauty Qhawekazi Mazaleni has been crowned Miss South Africa 2025, taking home the prestigious title at a glittering pageant held in Pretoria on Saturday, 25 October 2025.
The 24-year-old emerged victorious against nine other contestants, after one participant withdrew from the competition. Reports indiates that she takes over the crown from Mia Le Roux, Miss South Africa 2024.
Luyanda Zuma was named first princess, while Karabo Mareka took the second princess spot. The top 10 finalists represented a diverse range of professions, from doctors and chartered accountants to flight attendants.
Now in its 76th year, the Miss South Africa pageant once again showcased contestants of “substance and depth,” celebrating intelligence, confidence, and purpose alongside beauty.
Mazaleni stated that she plans to use her reign to create meaningful impact on some of South Africa’s most pressing challenges, including women empowerment, youth unemployment, access to education, and civic engagement. “This journey has been about more than a crown , it’s about inspiring change and giving voice to the dreams of South Africans who believe in a brighter tomorrow,” Mazaleni said.
As part of her prize, the new queen will receive R1 million in cash, a fully furnished luxury apartment to live in during her reign, and several sponsorships and gifts from the pageant’s partners.
Mazaleni High School Principle Send Words of Kindness
Mazaleni matriculated at Beaconhurst High School in East London in the back in 2019. The school’s principal Brendan Cloete says he hopes Mazaleni will be an inspiration to other learners at the school.
“She was always dedicated towards giving a bit more to society watching her grow through her career and her profession and where she wants to be in life. She stuck to her goals and her laurels and she has made the most of every opportunity presented to her,”he said.
