(The Post News)– Real Madrid CF trashed Barcelona FC in a 2-1 victory at Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, October 26. Madrid successfully claimed their first three points for this season’s El Clásico encounter, which boosts them to the first position on the La Liga log. Madrid won 9 out of 10 matches played. They are 5 points clear from their rivals, who are sitting in position 2.
The match’s first promising attack came in the early minutes of the game, courtesy of Raiders forward Kylian Mbappe, which was later ruled offside. Los Blancos dominated the match, securing more goal-scoring opportunities than Barcelona in the first half.
Real Madrid desperately needed to claim victory from this game to redeem themselves, snap a four-match losing streak against their football rivals, and extend their lead atop the La Liga standings. Real Madrid squeezed past Barcelona in a thrilling game that saw the hosts have three goals disallowed and saw a penalty saved.
Near the 38th minute, Barcelona’s tight forwards launched an unplanned attack that broke down the home defense and gave Fermin Lopez a chance. However, the theme of the home team creating chances freely quickly returned.
Meanwhile, Barcelona was reduced to ten men in the closing minutes when their star midfielder Pedri was shown a second yellow card for a lunge on Aurélien Tchouaméni. That resulted in both dugouts exchanging words, with a few subs seeing a yellow card.
As they barely defeated relegation-threatened Girona last weekend, Hansi Flick’s team was led on the touchline by his assistant Marcus Sorg. The German coach was suspended after receiving a red card.Barcelona was without several regular starters, including Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, and Dani Olmo, among others, while Lamine Yamal still does not appear fully fit after a groin injury but started.
