A man has been arrested in connection to the murder of the two cousins.
(The Post News)– Police have made a major breakthrough in the investigation into the brutal murders of two Mamelodi cousins, with the arrest of a 38-year-old man believed to be linked to one of the victims.
The suspect was apprehended on Monday, October 27, 2025, at a filling station in Pretoria following coordinated efforts by the Gauteng Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit, Provincial Crime Intelligence, and Mamelodi East detectives.
His arrest comes shortly after the Aubrey Tau Foundation announced a R250,000 reward for information leading to a successful conviction in the case. According to Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, the suspect faces two counts of murder and one of attempted murder, after investigations revealed that a third victim was also shot during the incident but survived.

“Acting on information, police traced and arrested the suspect at a filling station in Pretoria,” said Sibeko. Sibeko also noted that the suspect is set to appear at the Mamelodi Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, October 29.
Foundations React to Arrest
The Aubrey Tau Foundation has commended the Mamelodi community for sharing information that led to the arrest. “The heinous crime that took place in Mamelodi has shocked the nation and serves as a reminder that violence against women and children must be treated as a priority crime,” said foundation chairperson Aubrey Tau.
Meanwhile, gender-based violence advocacy group Women for Change urged the public not to circulate the graphic images and videos of the crime scene. “Out of respect for the victims and their families, we ask the public to refrain from re-sharing disturbing visuals. We are heartbroken by the loss of two more beautiful souls,” the organization said in a statement.
The police investigation continues, and authorities have urged anyone with further information to come forward.
