(The Post News)- Crime Intelligence head Lieutenant General Dumisani Khumalo will return to testify before the Madlanga Commission on Tuesday, 04 November 2025 marking his highly anticipated reappearance since his testimony was cut short last month after he fell ill.
It is reported that Khumalo previously appeared before the commission in late September, where he delivered explosive evidence on the existence of a powerful criminal syndicate dubbed the “Big Five.” According to Khumalo, the group operates primarily in Gauteng and has deep ties to organised crime and corruption within state structures.
Khumalo’s Testimony was Halted on 1 October
Preliminary reports states that Khumalo’s testimony was stopped on October 1 after he fell ill shortly after arriving at the Brigitte Mabandla Justice College in Tshwane. He was rushed to hospital, forcing the commission to postpone proceedings to allow him time to recover.
During that period, National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola confirmed that Khumalo was receiving the “best medical care” and was “in good spirits while following his doctor’s advice.”
Before his sudden illness, Khumalo revealed details about the operations of the Political Killings Task Team and shared WhatsApp messages allegedly linking suspected underworld figures, including Katiso “KT” Molefe and Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, to the “Big Five.”
According to Khumalo, the network is implicated in drug trafficking, tender fraud, vehicle hijackings, and contract killings. He also added that elements within the police were actively obstructing investigations into these criminal syndicates.
