Rishabh Pant’s Comeback Adds Experience and Firepower to India’s Test Line-Up.
(The Post News)- The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Wednesday that Rishabh Pant will make his eagerly awaited comeback to India’s Test team for the forthcoming two-match series against South Africa.
After missing the West Indies series due to a foot fracture, his selection represents a major comeback.
Since suffering the injury during the September Test match against England, the 28-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has remained out. When India defeated the West Indies 2-0 last month, Dhruv Jurel filled in for him as wicketkeeper.
Last week in Bengaluru, Pant played for India A against South Africa A, demonstrating his full recovery and preparedness for international cricket. In addition to demonstrating his fitness, his authoritative knock of 90 runs in the second innings led India A to a hard-fought three-wicket victory, a performance that reassured both selectors and supporters of his return to form.
India’s pace attack now has more depth thanks to the return of fast bowler Akash Deep, who missed the West Indies series.
After the current T20 series against Australia is over, a number of experienced players will join the team, including skipper Shubman Gill and strike bowler Jasprit Bumrah. On November 14, the Test series will begin in Kolkata, and on November 22, the second game will take place in Guwahati.
Temba Bavuma, the captain of the opposition, will return to South Africa after recovering from a calf injury that prevented him from participating in their tour of Pakistan.
With South Africa in fourth place and India in third place in the World Test Championship standings, the match is expected to be fierce. Both teams are keen to go to the final.
