(The Post News)– Chelsea has reported an alleged incident of racist abuse directed at their players during Wednesday’s UEFA Youth League match against Qarabağ U19, which the London club won 5–0.
Reports indicate that Chelsea players faced monkey chants and racist gestures during celebrations as Sol Gordon scored an opening goal. Witnesses stated that the abuse came from a section of the home crowd, prompting a brief suspension of play as Chelsea players raised concerns with the referee.
In a statement released after the match, Chelsea confirmed they had formally reported the matter to UEFA officials. “We are aware of an incident that occurred during Wednesday’s UEFA Youth League match, where several of our players were subjected to racist abuse from an individual in the crowd after scoring,” the club said.
Chelsea further condemned racism, asserting that racism and other forms of discrimination are completely intolerable and have no place in society or in football. Chelsea further stated that their players have the club’s full support and that they expect UEFA to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

In response, Qarabağ U19 issued an apology, saying the behavior does not reflect the values of their club and pledging to assist in identifying those responsible.
