(The Post News) – The 2025 Formula 1 season continued its breath-taking pace at Interlake’s, where Lando Norris delivered a near-perfect weekend only for Max Verstappen to remind everyone why he remains the undisputed king of modern F1.
From the opening session of the F1, Norris looked untouchable. The McLaren driver set the tone in qualifying with a scintillating lap that secured pole position, edging Verstappen by just 0.072 seconds. He then carried that momentum into Saturday’s sprint, dominating from start to finish and earning crucial points in the process.
But when the lights went out on Sunday, Verstappen’s racecraft, strategy, and composure once again took center stage. After shadowing Norris through the opening laps, the Red Bull driver executed a textbook undercut on Lap 22, taking advantage of an early pit stop to gain track position. Once ahead, Verstappen was in a class of his own maintaining flawless tyre management and unmatched consistency to cruise to victory in the F1 2025 by over six seconds.
Norris, though disappointed, could hold his head high. His P2 finish confirmed McLaren’s impressive development trajectory and proved that his maiden F1 victory is now a matter of when, not if. “We did almost everything right, Max just had the pace when it mattered. But we’re getting closer, and that’s what’s important,” Norris reflected post-race
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc rounded out the podium, capitalizing on his team’s improved straight-line speed to fend off pressure from Oscar Piastri. Meanwhile, Mercedes endured another difficult outing George Russell suffered a reliability-induced retirement, while Lewis Hamilton could only manage sixth after struggling with tyre degradation.
Verstappen’s F1 win marked his 13th victory of the season and further extended his commanding lead in the Drivers’ Championship. Verstappen admitted that Lando was really quick this weekend, “We had to be perfect with strategy and execution. That’s what makes racing exciting being pushed to your limits,” added Verstappen.
With only a handful of races remaining, Verstappen appears destined to secure his fourth consecutive world title. But the growing threat from Norris and McLaren signals a fascinating shift the next era of F1 rivalry may already be taking shape.
