She was admired for her self-assurance, comedy, and stylish material. The 21-year-old created a devoted online following that embraced her joy and personality.
She was found inside a parked car on Friday night in Lauderdale Lakes, a neighborhood outside of Fort Lauderdale. She had several gunshot wounds, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. She was taken to a neighboring hospital by emergency personnel, but the medical staff could not to rescue her.
According to investigators, Girlalala and her longtime lover, 25-year-old Shanoyd Whyte Jr., got into a fight that resulted in the shooting. Whyte told deputies that the pair had been dating for three years and that they always had arguments. He said that during a fight inside his car, she tugged his hair, which started the altercation. According to the police, Whyte pulled out a gun when the verbal altercation turned violent.
According to arrest records, Whyte acknowledged possessing the gun but declined to elaborate on the exact moment it was shot. He dialed 911 for assistance after the incident, but it was too late.
Whyte was taken into custody by the police and accused of first-degree murder with a firearm. From the car, investigators found a gun. It’s unclear at this time if Whyte has obtained legal counsel.
