(The Post News)- United States President Donald Trump made an announcement on Wednesday, citing that South Africa (SA) will not be invited to join in the 2026 G20 Summit.
Trump Stops all Payment and Subsidies to SA
Trump claimed the SA government “refuses to acknowledge or deal with the horrific human rights abuses endured by Afrikaners, and other descendants of Dutch, French, and German settlers.” He further alleged that white South Africans are being “killed” and that their farms are being taken from them.
“They are killing white people, and randomly allowing their farms to be taken from them. Therefore, at my direction, SA will NOT be receiving an invitation to the 2026 G20, which will be hosted in the Great City of Miami, Florida next year,” Trump said.
He added that the U.S. would “stop all payments and subsidies” to SA, claiming the country “is not worthy of membership anywhere.”

Trump also accused SA of mistreating an American representative at this year’s G20 Summit held at Nasrec, Johannesburg. He said South Africa “refused to hand off the G20 Presidency to a Senior Representative from our U.S. Embassy, who attended the Closing Ceremony.”
President Ramaphosa Respond to Trump
President Cyril Ramaphosa dismissed Trump’s remarks and defended South Africa’s standing on the global stage.
“SA is a member of the G20 in its own name and right. Its G20 membership is at the behest of all other members. SA is a sovereign, constitutional, democratic country and does not appreciate insults from another country about its worth in participating in global platforms. SA will never insult another country or its standing in the community of nations,” stated Ramaphosa
Ramaphosa reaffirmed that South Africa will continue to serve as a “full, active and constructive member of the G20.” He called on members of the summit to uphold multilateralism, consensus building, and equal participation among all states.
