(The Post News) – Two foreign national men were arrested in the Limpopo Province. They intercepted a Toyota Corolla Cross GR. The car was reported stolen in Pretoria CBD. They proceeded to smuggle it towards the Zimbabwean border. The vehicle is valued roughly at around R600 000.
The Limpopo Tracking Team working alongside Shadowsecure Security, Tshimollo Security and Investigation and Tracker SA launched an anti-smuggling operation on Sunday, 30th November 2025. Intelligence had received information based on the vehicle stating that it was travelling from Gauteng, heading towards the Beitbridge port of entry along the N1 national road.
SAPS Does What it Does Best
The vehicle was seen on the N1 North in Polokwane, close to the Mall of the North. Officers stopped it, preformed preliminary checks and confirmed that it is a stolen vehicle. The two men aged between 38 – 43 from Zimbabwe and Malawi were arrested on possession of a stolen vehicle.
Police informed the pair that they are expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on the 2nd November 2025. Limpopo Provincial Lieutenant General, Thembi Hadebe acknowledged the tight-knit collaboration among the officers, private security organizations and other partners. She said that such operations are meant to combat and disrupt vehicle smuggling networks which target cross-border routes.
The Perfect Example
A 40-year-old male, Simon Andile Nyathi was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Polokwane Regional Court in August. He was charged with theft of a vehicle and contravention of the Immigrant Act. Malesela Jonathan Ledwaba mentioned that Nyathi was apprehended in May 2024 near a petrol station along the N1 freeway.
Ledwaba further stated that Members of the Limpopo Provincial Tracking Team, alongside the Mighty Security and Tshimollo Security and Investigation received lucrative information regarding a stolen vehicle. A silver Isuzu double cab. The vehicle allegedly belonged to the SAPS Intelligence Unit and was reported stolen in Pretoria, Soshanguve on the 2nd of May 2024. Nyathi was already in custody by the time the vehicle was recovered.
