The South African Police Service (SAPS) issued a public appeal today, asking anyone with knowledge about the killing of popular DJ Warras to come forward.
Warras, identified as Warrick Stock, was shot dead in the heart of Johannesburg’s central business district earlier this afternoon.
Police say the attack occurred after Stock parked his car, at which point three unidentified men opened fire on him.
Assailants Fled The Crime Scene
The assailants then fled the scene on foot, leaving the area quickly after the shooting.
Gauteng Police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko confirmed that the motive for the assault has not yet been determined.
“We have not made any arrests at this stage, and the investigation is still ongoing,” Sibeko said.
She added that anyone who might have seen something or holds any information should contact the Crime Stop Line at 08600 10111.

Stock, known professionally as DJ Warras, was a well‑known figure in South African radio and television, having started his career at YFM in 2008.
Over the years he worked for stations such as 5FM, Gagasi FM and Cliff Central, and also presented shows like Live Amp on SABC1.
In recent years he expanded his activities into the security sector, founding JT VIP Elite Guarding & VIP Protection Services, which offered protection for high‑profile events.
Warras Described As Energetic
Colleagues and friends have described him as energetic, compassionate and outspoken, recalling his willingness to speak out on social issues .
Tributes have poured in from across the entertainment industry, with fellow DJ PH calling him “full of energy” and a “solid gent”.
Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie praised his fearlessness and his role as a unifier within the nation’s cultural landscape .
Family members, including his sister Nicole Stock, have asked the public to respect their privacy and to refrain from sharing graphic images of the incident.
The police continue to gather evidence and urge anyone with CCTV footage or other details to assist the investigation.
