China’s Foreign Ministry has condemned the US military’s use of force in Venezuela, saying it threatens peace in Latin America. The ministry is supporting a UN Security Council meeting to discuss the situation.
The spokesperson, Lin Jian, reiterated China’s stance that the US attack on Venezuela was unacceptable and demanded the immediate release of President Nicolás Maduro.
China’s Policy of Non-interference
Lin Jian stated that China has maintained positive communication and cooperation with the Venezuelan government and will continue to support Latin American countries.
China has not received any reports of Chinese personnel being affected by the US strike in Venezuela, according to Lin Jian.
China’s stance on the issue is consistent with its usual policy of non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs.
The Venezuelan government has rejected the US charges against Maduro, calling them a “kidnapping” and an attempt to control the country’s oil wealth.
The US has accused Maduro of running a state-sponsored criminal enterprise, partnering with violent drug syndicates and terrorist organizations.
The UN Security Council is set to meet to discuss the situation in Venezuela, with China supporting the meeting.
China’s relationship with Venezuela is part of its broader engagement with Latin American countries, which has grown in recent years.
Beijing has been vocal about its opposition to US intervention in the internal affairs of other countries.
