(The Post News)– Mohammed Salah’s spectacular performance in Sunday’s 6-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspur further demonstrated that the club’s power brokers run the risk of facing a significant backlash from supporters if they allow him to leave.
Salah had already won the public relations war in his contract issue with Liverpool, and the goal spree in north London saw him score twice and contribute two assists as Liverpool went four points ahead at the top of the Premier League.
The 32-year-old’s brace moved him up to fourth position on Liverpool’s all-time scoring chart with 229 goals in all competitions, making him the first Premier League player to have recorded at least ten assists and goals just before Christmas.
Although it is obvious how valuable Salah is to Arne Slot’s team, Liverpool has been unable to convince the forward to sign a new deal as rumors about his future grow. Liverpool supporters are hopeful that Salah will be convinced to extend his seven-year contract as soon as possible because his current one expires at the conclusion of this season, allowing him to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign team starting in January.
