The Post News (TPN) would like to extend our greatest gratitude to our readers for the unending support. As we prepare to bid farewell to 2024, a year filled with the best national and international current affairs, sports and entertainment news, and educational reporting, we’d want to thank you, our dear readers, for sticking with us throughout. This year has seen unforgettable moments in and out of parliaments, courts, fields, and stages.
We have witnessed major political shifts together. For instance, the formation of the Government of National Unity (GNU) in South Africa, the contested election in Mozambique, and Donald Trump’s return to the White House. Moreover, we have seen the president of South Korea, YoonSuk Yeol, being impeached over a martial law decree and a collapse in the French government, as Prime Minister Michel Barnier and his government were ousted in a vote of no confidence.
In sports we saw Real Madrid win the Champions League Championship. The Springboks winning the Freedom Cup, the Mandela Challenge Plate, the Castle Lager Rugby Championship, and the Prince Williams Cup. The Springboks were also ranked number one in World Rugby. We also saw Bafana Bafana, the South African men’s football team, win back their fans, as they came out in third place during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics were also major highlights in this year’s sporting events. The United States took the number one spot at the Olympics, while China was number one in the Paralympics. .
The entertainment industry did not disappoint as well. We saw African entertainers like Tyla, Ayra Star, Tems, Black Coffee, Burna Boy, and many others shine on the world stage. One of the biggest highlights in entertainment would be Chris Brown selling out FNB Stadium. He described this as the biggest crowd he has ever performed in front of throughout his career. There were also red carpet events, where artists showcased glam and style, such as the annual GALA, the Earthshot Prize Awards, MTV Awards, Oscars, Grammys, BET Awards, and many others.
As 2024 draws to a close, a year that has given us many wonderful memories. We look forward to celebrating these special days with you again next year. We are certain that we will be right there with you, bringing you every story and every highlight from the world,as we look forward to an exciting 2025 full of new challenges.
