(The Post News)- Virgil van Dijk, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, three prominent Liverpool players, have reached the last six months of their contracts with the team.
Although supporters believe the Dutch captain will remain at Anfield because he stated that he is at ease with his contract status, “Relevo” reveals that the center-back has considered leaving the Reds in the future.
The story claims that Real Madrid, who also view Alexander-Arnold as a major target, was offered Van Dijk’s services by the player’s representatives for the upcoming campaign. The 2019 Ballon d’Or runner-up was reportedly turned down by the Spanish capital team because he did not match their ideal profile.
Additionally, the team feels that Van Dijk has no position in Ancelotti’s list of center backs because of the existence of David Alaba, Raul Asencio, Eder Militao, and Antonio Rudiger. Even if Real Madrid is aware of Van Dijk’s exceptional talent, they would like to get a younger player who can guide the squad in the long run, something the 33-year-old captain of Liverpool is incapable of doing.
Although the exact timing of the proposal is unknown, Liverpool supporters should feel more at ease knowing that there is growing optimism regarding the Dutchman’s prospects of staying with the Premier League team for the upcoming campaign. Salah and Alexander-Arnold, who appear destined to depart the team at the end of the current campaign, cannot be said to be the same.
