(The Post News)– The countdown to the 19th annual Metro FM Music Awards (MMA) 2025 has officially begun, and the excitement is palpable. On Thursday night, the Nominees Announcement ceremony took place at The Galleria in Sandton, setting the tone for what promises to be an unforgettable awards show.
Hosted by the charismatic Siphesihle Vazi, alongside Zola Myeza, the star-studded event brought together some of Mzansi’s most talented names in the entertainment industry. In attendance were Oscar Mbo, Miss SA Mia Le Roux, Langa Mavuso, Teko Modise, and many more, all dressed to impress.
One of the highlights of the evening was the revelation of the nominees for the various categories. Newcomers Woodblock DJs made a splash, securing four nominations for their viral hit song “Skuta Baba (Remix).” Likewise, the song ‘Wishi Wishi’ by DJ Maphorisa and Kabza de Small is also nominated in four categories.
While other categories have five nominees, the most exciting and highly anticipated award, the “Song of the Year Award,” has ten nominees. The winner of the Song of the Year award will get R150,000 from the Motsepe Foundation, the awards’ sponsors. Meanwhile, the winners in the other categories will walk away with R50,000 each.
The crowd was also treated to electrifying performances by Usimamane and Nkosazana Daughter, adding to the evening’s excitement. From the stylish outfits to the buzz of anticipation, the Nominees Announcement ceremony was a night to remember.
