(The Post News)- Kiera Floyd delivered a flawless performance at Blair Atholl Golf and Equestrian Estate on Friday, securing her maiden professional victory on the Sunshine Ladies Tour with a remarkable final-round 11-under-par 60.
Floyd set the tone with a scorching front nine of 29 and followed it up with a solid back nine of 31, sealing a tournament-winning total of 15 under par. Her impressive round included nine birdies and an eagle, marking the lowest score of her professional career.
England’s Hayley Davis finished just one shot behind on 14 under par after carding a five-under-par 66, while fellow South African Casandra Alexander took third place at 12 under par with a final-round 69.
Still absorbing the magnitude of her achievement, the 20-year-old was left speechless. She admitted that the victory hadn’t fully sunk in yet but expected it would soon, describing the experience as incredible and surreal.
Floyd credited her stellar putting for Friday’s success. She explained that while she maintained accuracy off the tee and consistently found greens, it was her putting that made the biggest difference. She felt unusually confident over the ball, and everything seemed to align perfectly.
The young golfer, who turned pro in 2023, found Blair Atholl’s layout perfectly suited to her game. She noted that being a long hitter gave her an advantage, making the course feel shorter than it played for others. The set-up worked well for her distances throughout the week, making it an enjoyable challenge. She also recalled shooting five under during the pro-am, which reassured her that a low score was possible.
Playing alongside Northern Ireland’s Olivia Mehaffey in the final round provided valuable experience. Floyd appreciated the opportunity to compete against international players, highlighting how Mehaffey’s composed approach to the game was something she admired. She shared that Mehaffey jokingly remarked on how her 11-under performance made a six-under round seem underwhelming.
