(The Post News)– Tanzanian president Samia Suluhu Hassan has pulled a ‘Shawn Mkhize (MaMkhize)’ on Simba SC players, rewarding them with a Sh30 million, which is equivalent to R219,000, for qualifying for the Confederation Cup semi-final.
Tanzanian publications reported that president Hassan had promised Simba Sh10 million for every goal they scored against Al Masry. President Hassan kept his promise and rewarded the team with Sh30 million after the match was over. The reward was granted to the players in cash, on the pitch with thousands of Tanzanian people watching and rejoicing for Simba’s ticket to the semi-finals.
Simba will go against face SA’s Stellenbosch FC—the first leg has been scheduled for April 20 in Tanzania and the second leg on April 27 in Mzansi. Meanwhile, people have compared president Hassan to MaMkhize, who also used to reward players with cash bonuses on the pitch.
