(The Post News)– With a final shot at HSBC SVNS qualification on the line, the Springbok Women’s Sevens team head into this weekend’s World Rugby Sevens Challenger in Krakow with focus and determination, despite the cold snap gripping the Polish city.
Their pool includes Poland, Czechia, and Argentina all sides with their own ambitions. Though South Africa beat the European teams in Cape Town, Simmers stressed that past results won’t count now, especially with Poland playing at home.
Lessons from Cape Town were taken seriously, particularly around maintaining possession. The squad worked hard to address that ahead of Friday’s fixtures. Simmers praised newcomers Vianca Boer and Patience Mokone, who have adapted well, adding depth and energy to the squad.
Currently second on the log behind Kenya, the Springbok Women will kick off against Poland at 11h34, followed by Czechia at 15h04 and Argentina at 18h12, all live on RugbyPass.tv.
