(The Post News)- Four most-wanted suspects, aged between 21 and 33, are expected to appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 24 April 2025. The suspects are accused of terrorising the community of Amaoti in Inanda since June 2024.
Mkhwanazi stated that officers cornered and arrested four of the most wanted suspected murderers following positive intelligence about the suspects who were in hiding at a house in Cato Manor. According to Mkhwanazi, when the police apprehended the suspects, they possessed two firearms, ammunition, and suspected stolen items, including laptops and phones.
Furthermore, Mkhwanazi stated that the suspects have been linked to approximately 20 murders and several attempted murders that they allegedly committed in the Amaoti region of Inanda from June 2024 until the present. He added that investigations are ongoing and a search for more suspects continues.
SAPS pointed out that KZN recorded a high number of illegal drinking premises that were shut down. SAPS clarified that 757 suspects were apprehended after it was discovered that they were involved in illicit alcohol trading; 270 of them were in KwaZulu-Natal, 144 in Mpumalanga, and 142 in Gauteng.
SAPS also revealed that this past week alone, a total of 17 605 suspects were arrested through #OperationShanela, which is the highest number of arrests they have registered in a week in months. They also said that, during their various interventions and operations, they apprehended 3 662 wanted suspects for rape, murder and attempted murder.
As 215 suspects were arrested and charged for rape, the majority of those arrested for rape were apprehended in KwaZulu-Natal. urthermore, SAPS assured South Africans that they remain hard at work in preventing, combating and investigating crime in the country.
