(The Post News)– With the seasoned Italian Carlo Ancelotti having one more year left on his deal with the Spanish superpower “Real Madrid”, it is alleged that he is set to join the Brazil national team as head coach.
Ancelotti lost to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey on Saturday and also lost to Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals. Following Saturday’s defeat, Ancelotti made no secret that a potential exit was looming and said that his future would be a matter of discussion in the coming weeks.
After losing 4-1 to Argentina in March, Brazil, who are currently fourth in the South American qualification rankings for the tournament in the US, Mexico, and Canada, dismissed Dorival Junior.
With Brazil’s Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes playing crucial roles, Ancelotti, one of Real Madrid’s most successful coaches, led the team to a Champions League and La Liga double the previous season. In his debut season, he led Real Madrid to their tenth Champions League title, La Decima. He has won the competition three times in his two stays with Los Blancos. After Zinedine Zidane resigned in 2021, he returned after being dismissed in 2015.
Madrid is already four points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona because of their defensive shortcomings; therefore, their only opportunity to take home a major trophy this season is to defend the title. Ancelotti has coached Chelsea, AC Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain, among other teams.
