(The Post News)- Nasredine Nabi is allegedly leaving Kaizer Chiefs, together with his technical team, at the end of the current season. According to the Sunday Times, the Tunisian coach did not live up to Chiefs’ expectations and will therefore be axed.
These reports come a day after the coach led the club to lifting the Nedbank Cup against their rivals, beating them 2-1 at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Kwa-Zulu Natal on May 10, breaking a ten-year trophy drought for the Phefeni Glamour Boys.
An award-winning veteran journalist, Bareng-Batho Korjaas, reported, “Kaizer Chiefs will terminate the contract of coach Nasreddine Nabi at the end of the season,” as reported on TimesLive. Meanwhile, Chiefs are still eyeing a spot in the Betway Premiership League top eight. They will face Sekhukhune United away on May 17 and Polokwane City at home on May 24.
The coach-to-be-sacked managed to beat Free Agents, Chippa United, Stellenbosch FC, and Mamelodi Sundowns to reach the Nedbank Cup final. He went on to defeat Orlando Pirates, shaming Jose Riveiro, who is also leaving at the end of the season. Although club Chairman Dr. Kaizer Motaung stated that he saw improvement since Nabi arrived, the club is reportedly set to let the former Young Africans mentor go.
