Grenex, a rising star in the solar energy field, has secured a spot as one of the final contenders in the South African Energy Efficiency Confederation’s (SAEEC) Innovative Energy Project of the Year. Their commendable work on the Bertha House project has earned them this prestigious nomination.
Recently, Grenex made waves at “The Future Energy Show Africa” in Johannesburg, where they delivered a compelling presentation on advancing Africa’s sustainable energy future. The Bertha House, located in Mowbray, Cape Town, serves as a hub for individuals and groups dedicated to community improvement.
Maria Michael, a senior consultant at Grenex, highlighted the versatility of solar energy during a speech at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg. She emphasized that solar panels can be installed on rooftops or in confined spaces, enabling utilities, households, and businesses to generate their electricity, thus making solar power more accessible to a wider audience.
Michael noted that solar energy offers a safe, reliable, and sustainable electricity source, which is transforming the future of the electrical grid. She stressed its increasing importance as it becomes more available and cost-effective.
Furthermore, Michael addressed the intermittent nature of solar energy and its impact on grid stability, citing potential fluctuations in frequency and voltage due to weather and time-of-day variations.
Moreover, Michael highlighted the environmental benefits of solar energy, including significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change effects by transitioning from fossil fuels to clean renewable energy sources.
The recent three-day conference and expo in Johannesburg showcased over 350 local and international suppliers, presenting alternative energy solutions and other exciting features. The SAEEC award winner will be announced at the SAEEC Annual Conference Gala Dinner on October 3, 2024.
Gina Bester, General Manager at Terrapinn Middle East and Africa, emphasized the importance of unity within the energy and solar industries, especially in current critical times. She expressed excitement for this year’s expo, emphasizing the need for collaboration to drive towards a more sustainable future.
This year’s expo also introduced the Deal makers Hub, an exclusive platform aimed at facilitating partnerships, sealing significant sales deals, and executing Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) among sponsors and exhibitors, marking a new milestone in fostering collaboration and innovation within the industry.
