(The Post News)- With Elon Musk set to leave the Trump administration, US President Donald Trump had praised Musk, referring to him as terrific. Musk’s tenure in the office is set to end on Friday at 17:30 South African time.
Trumps says although Musk is leaving his administration, but he will still assist them in certain ways. Elon Musk revealed he’s leaving the Trump administration after serving as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). This move comes as a relief to Tesla investors, which have seen the company’s shares decline this year partly due to Musk’s support for Trump and right-wing groups in Europe.
Musk have been leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Trump’s administration, focusing on reducing federal spending. He recently expressed concerns over the cost of the Republican’s tax and budget bill in Congress. This development comes after Musk pledged to reduce his political spending, having already shelled out nearly $300 million supporting Trump’s presidential campaign and other Republican candidates last year. Meanwhile, Trump took on social media, X to thank Musk for the work he had done, particularly his assistance in the Department of Government Efficiency.
Musk’s decision comes after he had criticised legislative centrepiece of Trump’s agenda. He was appointed as a “special government employee” in the US, enabling him to serve in a federal role for a limited period of 130 days per year. This designation is typically reserved for experts with specialized knowledge, allowing them to contribute to government initiatives without requiring Senate confirmation.
