
Anti-Gang Unit Recovers Firearms and Ammunition During Crime Prevention Operations in Hout Bay on 16 June 2025 Image: SAPS
(The Post News)- Members of the Anti-Gang Unit, deployed to the Hout Bay policing precinct to help address ongoing gang-related violence, recovered firearms and ammunition during crime prevention operations conducted on Monday, 16 June 2025.
As part of an intelligence-driven operation in Salamander Road, Hout Bay, Anti-Gang Unit members arrested an 18-year-old male found in possession of a .38 Special revolver with no serial number and a 9mm pistol along with 55 rounds of ammunition. He is expected to face charges related to the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
In a separate bust, detectives from the Anti-Gang Unit apprehended four adult males linked to recent ongoing murder investigations in Hout Bay.
Additionally, members searched a vehicle and found a 9mm pistol with ammunition inside the driver’s side door. A 102 inquiry under the Firearms Control Act was opened against the firearm’s owner for not carrying it in the prescribed manner.
Once charged, the suspects will appear in the Simon’s Town Magistrates’ Court.
