(The Post News)- A 42-year-old security guard was arrested on Friday, June 20, 2025, in connection with a shooting incident on the N1 highway in Makhado, Limpopo. The incident occurred around 11:00 PM, when a silver Toyota C-HR, occupied by a family traveling from Gauteng, was pursued by an unknown vehicle.
The family, suspecting potential criminal activity, chose not to stop and instead made a U-turn. However, the pursuit continued, and as the family’s vehicle neared the three-mile circle on the N1 again, shots were fired, striking and injuring a 28-year-old female passenger.
The police responded promptly, arresting the suspect and confiscating a rifle believed to be the weapon used in the shooting. The 42-year-old security guard, employed by a local security company, is facing charges in connection with the incident. He is scheduled to appear before the Makhado Magistrate’s Court on Monday, June 24 is incorrect and instead June 23, 2025.
Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, has strongly condemned the incident, emphasizing the seriousness with which authorities are treating the case. The police are working to ensure justice is served, and the community remains assured of their safety and protection.
