(The Post News)– The South African Weather Service has issued a warning of an impending cold front that is expected to bring freezing temperatures to most parts of Johannesburg overnight. Robert Mulaudzi, spokesperson for Johannesburg Emergency Management Services, is urging residents to prepare for the cold weather and take necessary precautions to stay safe.
“Residents are urged to exercise caution when using heating devices such as heaters, paraffin stoves, braziers, or imbaula,” Mulaudzi advises. “It’s crucial not to leave these devices unattended to prevent fire incidents that may occur during the extremely cold temperatures.” He emphasises the importance of being vigilant and taking steps to ensure safety during this period.
The City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services is on high alert, with disaster management monitoring teams deployed in all seven regions of the city. Residents are encouraged to call the emergency services call centre at 011 375 5911 for any life-threatening emergencies. Mulaudzi assures residents that the city is fully prepared to respond to any emergencies that may arise during the cold snap.
By taking the necessary precautions and being aware of the risks, residents can minimise the dangers associated with the cold weather. Mulaudzi’s message is clear: stay safe, be prepared, and don’t hesitate to reach out to emergency services if needed.
