Iran's Nuclear sites damaged after devastating US-Israel attacks | Image: Iranian FM
(The Post News)- It’s been five days since the United States and Israel bombed Iran’s nuclear sites. Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, had confirmed extensive damage to the country’s nuclear sites.
Araghchi confirmed the damage while he was speaking with the state broadcaster yesterday; he says the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran will evaluate and outline the damage.
According to Israel’s Atomic Energy Commission, the US’s attack on Iran’s Fordo nuclear site severely damaged its infrastructure, making it unusable. Israel believes that combined US and Israeli attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities have significantly delayed Iran’s ability to develop nuclear weapons, pushing their progress back by several years.
Nonetheless, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, dismissed the impact of the attack to Iran’s nuclear sites, saying they didn’t affect the country’s nuclear program. This contradicts US President Donald Trump’s claim that the bombs had completely destroyed three nuclear sites.
On Wednesday, 25 June, Donald Trump claimed that a US attack on Iran had destroyed three nuclear sites.
Trump considers a US strike on Iran a “victory for everybody”. He was speaking in The Hague, where he attended a NATO summit; he claimed that his decision to join Israel’s attacks on Iranian nuclear sites with powerful bunker-busting bombs brought the war to an end. However, Khamenei says Trump exaggerate the impact of the attack.
