(The Post News)- The president of the USA, Donald Trump has again re-started tensions with Iran by warning that the United States would “ absolutely” bomb Iran should the nuclear weapons be reignited. The president’s comments were in response to Iran Leader Ali Khamenei’s claiming that Iran has came out victorious from the recent 12 day war with Israel.
In a raging post on his Truth Social platform, Trump aggressively rebuked at Khamenei, accusing him of lying “ blatantly and foolishly” and claiming that Iran’s nuclear infrastructure has been destroyed during the U.S nuclear bombing in three nuclear sites in Iran. Trump threatens to bomb Iran if nuclear programme reignites , asserting that the he had previously prohibited Israel and the U.S military from escalating on delivering a final blow that could have resulted the Iranian leader to be assassinated.
“ His country was decimated, his three-evil nuclear sites were oblitered and knew exactly where he was sheltered,” Trump wrote. “I would not let Israel, or the U.S Armed Forced, terminate his life.”
Trump statement follows Khamenei’s first public statement since a ceasefire agreement was reached earlier this week. Khamenei had proudly exaggerated that Iran had “ slapped America in the face” by launching missiles at a U.S base in Qatar following attacks on crucial three Iranian nuclear sites, Fordow , Isfahan and Natanz. Regardless of Trump’s claims of total destruction, a leaked U.S intelligence report probes the strikes set Iran’s nuclear development back by only a few months and not years, as he recapped.
At the White House news conference, Trump double down , saying, “Sure, without question, absolutely,” when asked if he would authorise new air strikes should Iran resume nuclear developments. Trump threatens to bomb Iran if nuclear program resumes, reiterating that U.S military force remain on the as a deterrent. The President also said he had put a stop to talks around lifting sanctions and other diplomatic measures that could have helped Iran’s economy recovery. Khamenei’sremarks, Trump claimed, “ we’re a statement of anger , hatred, and disgust” that killed somewhat any chance for a meaningful negotiation.
Concurrently, Iran is pushing back diplomatically. The Iranian parliament has proposed a bill that suspends cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), following the attacks on its three nuclear sites. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Friday that Iran would decline site inspections requests, calling IAEA Director Rafael Grossi’s demand “ possibly even malign in intent”.
Grossi said no site inspections had taken place since Isreal began its strikes on 13 June 2025, and reassure his commitment to restoring oversight as a global priority.
Simultaneously, Isreal’s Defence Minister Yoav Gallant confirmed that military preparations are still underway, noting that Isreal remains attentive on air superiority and preventing any future advancements of Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities. Gallant also asserted that Isreal did not need U.S approval to assassinate Khamenei as it was necessary.
As Trump threatens to bomb Iran if nuclear program resumes, and Isreal signals that the war may not be over as yet, whilst the region remains on total edge and uncertainty. The prospects for diplomacy slowly weakens with every series of threats and missile fire, stirring fears of a much broader conflict with international repercussions.
