(The Post News)– Russian Security Council Deputy Chair Dmitry Medvedev has slammed U.S. President Donald Trump for reversing course and agreeing to send more weapons to Ukraine, calling the move another example of Trump’s “favorite political seesaw.”
In a Telegram post on Tuesday, Medvedev reportedly mocked Trump’s fluctuating stance, suggesting that the American president can’t make up his mind regarding the conflict in Ukraine. The post, originally in Russian, mocks ‘We’re not sending weapons.’ ‘We’re sending many weapons.’ ‘I’m happy with Putin.’ ‘I’m disappointed with Putin.’ It’s laughable.”
Medvedev’s remarks come one day after Trump announced during a White House meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the U.S. would resume sending defensive military aid to Ukraine, following a brief pause in shipments. Trump explained that the decision was necessary because Ukraine was “getting hit very hard” and needed more weapons to defend itself.
Trump’s reversal follows reports that the Pentagon had temporarily paused some weapons transfers as part of a review of U.S. stockpiles and strategic priorities. However, during that pause, Russia escalated drone and missile strikes on Ukraine shortly afterwards.
The announcement also came days after Trump held separate calls with the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, trying to broker a ceasefire. However, Trump reported that there had been “no progress” in this regard.
The US remains one of Ukraine’s biggest military aid suppliers, and Medvedev says Russia remains unbothered and unthreatened by that fact. He insists that Russia will not react to this and will instead “keep pursuing the goals of the Special Military Operation. Take back our land. Work for Victory.”
