(The Post News)– The Renault SA Davis Cup team is heading back to familiar territory this September as they prepare to take on Morocco in a World Group II clash at Groenkloof Tennis Club in Pretoria.
This time around, the stakes are even higher. A win over Morocco, who recently swept Zimbabwe 4–0 in Harare, will earn South Africa a shot at the World Group I promotion playoffs. A loss would push them into the relegation playoffs instead.
South Africa is currently ranked 58th in the Davis Cup standings, while Morocco sits slightly higher at 51st. Both squads are yet to be announced.
Tennis SA General Manager Anthony Moruthane says Groenkloof has become something of a fortress for the team and believes the home advantage, along with local support, could play a huge role in securing another big results.
