(The Post News)– Two Thailand nationals were killed on Thursday morning following an altercation with Cambodian troops near the border area. According to Thai officials, Cambodian forces fired rockets into a village in Thailand, prompting Thai military units to retaliate by striking a Cambodian F-16 fighter jet.
In a statement released by Cambodia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sok Chenda Sophea, Cambodia condemned Thailand, accusing it of threatening peace between the two nations. The minister further alleged that Thailand had attacked Cambodia “accidentally on purpose” and urged Thailand to cease such actions to avoid further escalation.
Meanwhile, the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has advised British nationals to exercise increased caution when travelling in the border regions between both nations.
