(The Post News)- Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Commander-in-Chief Julius Malema has called Patriotic Alliance (PA) Deputy President Kenny Kunene a liar.
Malema rejected the explanation given by Kunene, who was at the house of businessman Katiso “KT” Molefe, a figure linked to the killing of DJ Sumbody.
Kunene claimed that he does not know Molefe personally, nor are they friends, and that he was at Molefe’s house with a journalist. Malema dismissed this as a lie.
During a press briefing in Khayelitsha, Malema ridiculed Kunene’s version of events.
“To take a journalist is not a secret operation. Who is that journalist? Why would you take a journalist to someone who just came out of prison? Who is on bail? As an MMC?” he asked.
Kunene, a former EFF member who left the party to join the PA, now serves as a Transport MMC in Gauteng. The PA has been vocal about fighting corruption allegedly perpetrated by foreign nationals—but Malema used the opportunity to call Kunene a criminal.
“We told you these people are criminals. They are nothing but mabhantinti,” said Malema.
He said he was pleased to hear that Kunene was present at Molefe’s house during the arrest, joking that Kunene even “dances at night.”
Malema questioned how Kunene could deny knowing Molefe while serving in public office, calling the claim “a pure lie.”
“He says he doesn’t know that guy. He knows that guy. I know that guy—not personally, but he’s a well-known businessman. Until now, we knew him only as a businessman,” Malema continued.
He emphasized that he himself has no personal relationship with Molefe, comparing it to how he knows businessman Patrice Motsepe.
Malema likened Kunene’s behavior to that of gang members, saying they succeed through lies and by thinking they can outsmart everyone. He also criticized the Head of the Hawks, Godfrey Lebeya.
