(The Post News)- On Thursday, family and friends of the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne, paid their last respects at a private funeral at his Buckinghamshire home.
Ozzy passed away in July, at the age of 76, after years of battling Parkinson’s disease.
To accommodate the Black Sabbath frontman’s fans, the city of Birmingham organized a public memorial to allow them to pay their respects.
Birmingham Mayor Zafar Iqbal told reporters that it was important for the city to support the public memorial ahead of the private funeral.
“We know how much this moment will mean to his fans,” said Iqbal.
Ozzy’s body was carried by hearse to the city’s Black Sabbath Bridge and bench for the public memorial.
In memory of the Prince of Darkness, fans decorated the Black Sabbath bench with flowers, artworks, and balloons. Sharon Osbourne also laid flowers in memory of her late husband.
Ozzy’s family couldn’t hold back their emotions as fans paid tribute to the rock legend.
Sharon’s children Aimee Osbourne, Kelly Osbourne, Jack Osbourne, and Ozzy’s son Louis Osbourne attended the public memorial.
Among the attendees were members of Black Sabbath and singer Yungblud.
When Ozzy’s family shared news of his passing in July, they said they were filled with unexplainable sadness, but that the rock legend died surrounded by family and love.
Since Ozzy’s passing was announced, celebrities have shared tributes—some on stage, while others took to social media to express their heartfelt messages.
