(The Post News)– Russia has intensified the number of drones and missiles fired toward Ukraine since President Donald Trump called for a ceasefire.
Preliminary reports indicate that Trump vowed to bring an end to the Russia-Ukraine war in just one day if he returned as president. However, since Trump’s return to office in January, recorded air strikes from Moscow have increased gradually. During the 2024 US campaign, Trump claimed that Russia’s attack on Ukraine could have been avoided had a president who the Kremlin “respected” gotten in office.
According to Ukrainian military intelligence, Russia’s production of ballistic missiles increased by 66% in the past year. Ukrainian military intelligence reported that between January 20, when Trump took office, and July 19, Russia fired 27,158 explosives, compared to 11,614 during the last six months of former President Joe Biden’s administration.
Anna Kelly, White House deputy press secretary, blames Biden for the war, suggesting that it was “brought by Biden’s incompetence and has lasted much too long. Kelly added that Trump wishes to end the killing; hence, American-made weapons are being sold to NATO members, and he has threatened President Vladimir Putin of Russia with “biting tariffs and sanctions if he does not agree to a ceasefire.”
According to reports from the Ukrainian Air Force, attacks reached their peak early last month, when Moscow launched 748 drones and missiles at Ukraine on 9 July.
