Eldorado Park father is now facing additional charges following allegations of abusing his four-year-old daughter sexually and physically.
(The Post News)– The 32-year-old father from Eldorado Park, who allegedly abused his four-year-old daughter sexually and physically, is now facing five criminal counts.
He was apprehended on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, fter authorities found the child in a backyard with serious head injuries, bruises, and a swollen eye. The child subsequently succumbed to her injuries in Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital on Friday.
The father appeared in court for the second time today seeking bail. He now faces murder, rape, assault with intent to cause bodily harm, child abuse, and compelled rape charges. Meanwhile, police also detained the little girl’s mother. She is facing a charge of failing to report a sexual offense against her daughter. Phind Mjonondwane, the spokesperson of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), said they will hear the cases of both parents separately.
The recent developments in the case come amid mounting outrage in the community. Eldorado Park residents have gathered outside the court, demonstrating their demands for the four-year-old’s justice.
Both parents will remain in police custody and will appear before the Protea Magistrates Court on Monday for their official bail hearing. The NPA has, however, revealed that it aims to oppose the bail for both parents. The police are investigating another incident in which the father allegedly assaulted the couple’s two-year-old son, and he suffered an arm injury.
The NPA has requested the public to stop spreading the video of the assault on the four-year-old. It highlighted that the video is crucial evidence. The NPA said distributing the video risks jeopardizing the victim’s dignity and the privacy of her younger brother.
The community held a vigil outside Eldorado Park police station on Monday evening, demanding justice for the four-year-old. The community vowed to continue fighting for justice to prevail in the case. Moreover, according to the community, the cause of such violence against children is drug use.
