(ThePostNews) – DA councillor hit has shocked the Howick magistrate’s court after explosive testimony revealed that Inkosi Simphiwe Zuma, the traditional leader of the Nxamalala tribal authority in Impendle, allegedly paid R75,000 to a hitman to murder Mngeni local municipality DA councillor Nhlalayenza Ndlovu.
The case involves Zuma, along with Thabani Masobho Hlongwa, 31, Khayelihle Shabalala, 31, and Thabo Mathonsi, 26, all charged with involvement in the DA councillor hit. Zuma and Ndlovu are related, which adds a complex family dimension to the legal proceedings.

Ndlovu was shot dead outside his home in December 2023 in front of his wife, two children, and a nanny. Following the attack, his family abandoned the home outside eMpophomeni. Investigators discovered that Zuma allegedly masterminded the DA councillor hit and paid R75,000 to Zwelithini Buthelezi, who has now become a state witness.

During the bail hearing, Zuma’s attorney outlined his personal circumstances, noting that he is married with two children, has eight other children born out of wedlock, and suffers from diabetes and a heart condition. Zuma reportedly earns R25,000 monthly from the department of cooperative governance and traditional affairs.
Zuma is currently out on R25,000 bail for another alleged murder in January 2023. Meanwhile, the DA has voiced concern over the ongoing case, stressing the gravity of the allegations and calling for bail to be denied so that the trial for the DA councillor hit can proceed without delay.
