(The Post News)– The English Premiership League log standings tumble the stomach, with Manchester City in position one and Arsenal in position two with a 2-point difference. The Citizens are on the brink of a historic fourth consecutive EPL win. In contrast, Arsenal is in wait, hoping for a phenomenal slip from the log leaders.
Today, May 19 is the last day of the English Premier League season, with all the excitement of round 38 of the final. Manchester City is leading the league with two points ahead of Arsenal. If City wins their match against West Ham, they’ll be crowned champions. Meanwhile, second-placed Arsenal will be playing against Everton, hoping for a chance to take the title if City slips up.
The two clubs have a history of competing for the EPL title. The Gunners have lost the first spot after suffering a 2-nil defeat against Aston Villa last month. Not for the first time, Citizens have then been relentless in the intense run-in to secure the first spot and win the title.
Gunners’ men have set a club record by winning 27 games this season, although it is not enough to dethrone the Citizens’.
In their last game, Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s coach, told the media that they have to allow themselves to live a beautiful day where the dream of winning the EPL title is still alive and possible. “It’s football, and once we are there, we just have to live the moment,” said Arteta on BeSoccer report.
If Arsenal beats Everton and Manchester City loses to West Ham, the Gunners’ would be ending their 20-year wait for the EPL champions title.
Pep Guardiola’s men will play without their first-choice goalkeeper, Santana de Moraes Enderson, due to a fractured eye socket. He got injured in their 4-nil win against Fulham in round 2. For their last game, they will be having Stefan Ortega as their goalkeeper.
