(The Post News)- The Springboks, in anticipation of the very first of two crucial Rugby Championship Test matches in opposition to Argentina, which is scheduled for next Saturday in Durban, have started off their training with enthusiasm.
The Springboks quickly resumed full preparation following a short break as the championship nears its conclusion with matches planned in the seaside city of Durban and London on October 4.
On Thursday evening, the team reconvened and promptly got back to work. They began their routine on Friday morning by working out and doing spinning exercises, and then they trained hard on the field in the afternoon hours. Before the team enters full testing game mentality on Monday in preparation for their game at Kings Park, preparation continues on weekends with an additional session of outdoor and gym practice.
Springboks Sit in Second Position
Every game could potentially be important since the Rugby Championship rankings are so close. The Springboks and All Blacks are knotted in the second and third positions with 10 points between them, while their league-leader Wallabies’ 11 points are only two points ahead of bottom-place Argentina. All four clubs are still in competition for the championship, which is still up for grabs.
The All Blacks will play the Wallabies in the Bledisloe Cup match, and the Boks will be ready to play the Pumas in South Africa. Both games will have a significant impact on the championship title. For the first time since 2019, the Springboks are hoping to defend the championship they took home last year.
Upon returning back from New Zealand, head coach Rassie Erasmus said he was pleased with his team’s enthusiasm and preparedness. “Being back in camp is fantastic. There is genuine energy in the group, and the players are fired up. After some time off of recuperation from a lengthy journey, it has been great to get right back into the rhythm of things,” remarked Erasmus.
Erasmus emphasized the need to perform at a high level in front of home fans while acknowledging the challenge Argentina poses. We are aware that it won’t be simple. We’ll need to perform at our highest level since Argentina is always challenging. However, we’re committed to being well-prepared and taking no chances.
